About Us
It all started with a baby goat.
In 2018, I was living in Virginia after just getting married and I saw a listing for a baby goat for sale on craigslist. In that instant, he was all I could think about
I grew up in the city and while I always had a love of animals, I had no experience raising or caring for farm animals. I enlisted the help of neighbors and friends and decided that I was going to follow my heart and bring him home. When I picked him up from the farm, I quickly realized that the love I felt seeing his picture wasn’t a passing whim- it was real! And I was so lucky to have found him.
I named him Tuck and bottle fed him for a few months before I got him his best friend, Lady May. The more I learned about them and got to know their personalities, the more our relationships grew. I would take them with me wherever I went and they were incredibly loyal and affectionate friends to me. I would take them for walks with me everyday and I learned that they didn’t need a leash to stay close to me. As herd animals, it is their instinct to stay close to their person.
I learned so many things about goats in those first years, what they eat, what makes them happy, the kind of shelter and routines they prefer. I learned how to trim hooves, give medication, monitor their health and to use electric netting to give them more access to forage. And I loved every minute of it.
It’s been almost 10 years since I got Tuck, and since then we have acquired more goats, with a few being born on our property. We now have 10 goats, 15 chickens, 2 geese, 2 dogs and 2 house bunnies. We have mostly Nigerian Dwarf goats and a La Mancha and an Angora goat.
I started offering goat walks to my community as a way to share the love, joy and peace that I receive everyday from my herd. I learned that so many people also love animals and crave experiences like this. Since 2024, we have led thousands of people on walks and received amazing feedback from our visitors. Nothing brings me more joy than to share my life and love of animals with you!
I hope you can join us one day on the farm.
